An Update

I’m sorry for the lack of communication the last month everyone. This article is just a short update to explain where I’ve been and what I’m planning on doing now that I’m back.

Where have I Been?

I have, unfortunately, had a series of events occur over the last month which have taken my attention away from this blog. As much as I would like it to be a more central part of my schedule, writing for this blog is still a ‘small time’ hobby, and so very susceptible to interruptions from life events. In this case the life events were first a week spent attempting to get my computer to stop blue screening every 30 minutes or so, a couple of weeks of getting and recovering from the plague, and finally preparing for and celebrating the Jewish Holiday of Passover. Finally it looks like I am coming out of this period of distractions, as my health continues to return to normal, my computer is now relatively stable, and Passover is coming to an end.

What is the Plan Going Forward?

I’m hoping to return to writing articles next week. I have several ideas for new articles in the “A Stop Along the Way” series, including the home of the blog’s titular Robot Hermit. I have been thinking a lot lately about the cultures of the different intelligent species I have developed for my world so I hope to write some more specific follow ups to my article “Creatures of the World” detailing those creatures, how they relate to one another, how they survive in this terrible world I’m creating, and maybe even some actual game mechanics for them. I’m also doing some research to help me figure out what the language of the fallen empire sounds like so I can start naming things, particularly the planet and the setting, and stop just “my world” or other vague language. Finally I’ve been reading through several books on world building for RPGs as well as different rulebooks for inspiration. Since my current campaign is coming to a close soon I will likely take some time to run some shorter games to try out new settings and rules and report back to you with some reviews.

For anyone who has been with me through this journey so far, Thank You. If you have any questions or suggestions please leave them in the comments below.
